1. What do I need to sign up?
To sign up with NetMusicWorks, you need music that is commercially available through established vendor sites, such as CDBaby, Arkiv, Amazon, or iTunes. Since we focus exclusively on contemporary composers and concert artists, your music should fall within the concert music genre. Also, you will need to provide us with at least three CDs for each piece of music you are promoting. These CDs will be used for promotional purposes only. top
2. How does NetMusicWorks promote my music?
NetMusicWorks provides you with the most cost-effective and innovative way to get your music out to broadcasters worldwide.
- After signing up, we work with you to develop your Artist Profile page which establishes your web presence on the NetMusicWorks site.
- We begin your six-month active promotion, during which time your music is introduced to our broadcasters through our exclusive NetMusicWorks Bulletins. Our broadcasters include over 400 traditional broadcast stations, internet radio stations, music directors, and music hosts. These music professionals are your media allies, because they are eager to discover exciting contemporary music and artists to introduce to their audiences. We send our NetMusicWorks Bulletins at regular intervals so that our broadcasters expect them and look forward to receiving them.
- Our broadcasters can access your Artist Profile page directly on the NetMusicWorks site to listen to excerpts of your music and to learn more about you.
- We fulfill requests for your music and keep you updated on requests we receive. top
3. How does NetMusicWorks save me time and money?
Since your music is sent only to broadcasters that have specifically requested it, you no longer waste your time and money sending out unsolicited mailings. When you add up the cost of CD's, press kits, packaging, and postage, you can see that NetMusicWorks is the cost-effective and efficient alternative. top
4. Couldn't I just do this myself?
Maybe, depending on the time, money and effort you want to spend. NetMusicWorks saves you all three. We have an extensive, worldwide database of over 400 broadcasters. Through the professional relationships we've developed with our broadcasters, we can get your music further. A small investment = A world of exposure for your music. top
5. What does the Initial Promotion fee include?
The Initial Promotion fee includes the development of your Artist Profile page, which stays live on the NetMusicWorks site for one year, a six-month active promotion to our broadcasters, and processing requests for your music. We create your Artist Profile page using three audio excerpts, photos, text, and buy links for your music that you provide to us. top
6. What are the audio excerpts on my Artist Profile page?
The audio excerpts are streams of the pieces of music you have chosen to promote. Each excerpt is limited to two minutes and up to 2MB in size. top
7. How are the excerpts chosen for my Artist Profile page?
You choose the excerpts of the music you wish to promote. Each excerpt is limited to two minutes and up to 2MB in size. Usually, we extract the first two minutes of each piece, or you may provide us with mp3s of your own excerpts. Upon request and for a nominal fee of $10 each, we can create customized two minute excerpts for you from the full tracks. top
8. Can I change my music excerpts once my Artist Profile page is posted?
We only post your Artist Profile page after we receive your approval. Once posted, we do not change or edit Artist Profile pages, because our broadcasters need to be able to revisit pages and music that we have previously promoted. top
9. What if I have a new CD release or want to use new selections for my Artist Profile?
Once posted, we do not change Artist Profile pages. Your new music deserves a new promotion. Development of an additional Artist Profile page and a new six-month active promotion are available at a discounted fee. top
10. Do I need my own website?
No. Each of our Artists will have a web presence on the NetMusicWorks site with audio excerpts, artist information, photos, and buy links for their music. Our broadcasters are able to easily access these Artist Profile pages. If you do have a website, we will include that link on your Artist Profile page. top
11. How long will my Artist Profile page stay posted on the NetMusicWorks site?
Your Artist Profile page remains posted on the NetMusicWorks site for one year from the start date of your active promotion campaign. After the initial year, you can keep Artist Profile pages posted for a small annual fee. We archive all inactive Artist Profile pages. top
12. My CDs are self-produced and only available on my website, can I sign up with NetMusicWorks?
The rules and regulations for radio and internet broadcast are complex. Some licensing stipulations will not allow stations to air self-produced CDs if they are not commercially available. We respect our broadcasters' parameters and, therefore, will not accept an Artist unless they have music that is commercially available on established vendor sites, such as CDBaby, Arkiv, Amazon, or iTunes. top
13. By "concert music" what do you mean?
For clarification, NetMusicWorks generally considers "concert music" as music that is notated in some written form by a composer as a score for musicians to play, with or without a conductor, and/or for an audience to listen to in a concert setting. Obviously there are some overlaps between genres. Some composers include sections for improvisation, and jazz is now more frequently coming under the category of "chamber music." But for now, the strength and uniqueness of our broadcast outreach falls primarily within the contemporary genres of: orchestra music, chamber music, solo and ensemble concert instrumentalists. top
14. I am a singer/songwriter or I have a band, can I sign up with NetMusicWorks?
To best serve our Artists and maintain the integrity of the relationships with our broadcasters, we are exclusively focused on the genre of contemporary concert music. top
